  1. As JerusalemMite said
“They [Gaza flotilla] have devalued the expression ‘peace activists’”

Funny to think my early years were dominated by Jewish comics…Sid Caesar was my favourite TV comic.. but of course the Marx brothers…ah happy times. There is nothing like good comedy and this is a good example.

  3. Heres to Davy.

How deeply encouraging your opinion is to me Berchmans.

“my early years were dominated by Jewish comics”

very very week and unconvincing try at pulling of a “some of my friends …”

  5. V. funny, especially, “I’ve heard some smashing things about Turkish clubs.”

  6. Duvidl has some more:

1)They seem to have clubbed together on the Marmara.

2)Faisal to Kamil: “Let’s go clubbing on the Marmara tonight.”

3)IHH were clearly club visitors on the Marmara.

4)Kamil to O’Faisal(of Irish/Turkish parentage), “Let’s head on to the Marmara for the craic.”

  7. Maybe 4) should, instead, read:

4)Kamil to Mairead Corrigan-Maguire, “Let’s head on to the Marmara for the craic.”

  8. Silke

“very very week and unconvincing try at pulling of a “some of my friends …”

You are wrong my friend. One of the reasons I get so p155ed off about being called an anti Semite is that I have always thought Jewish folk are brilliant …awesome in fact…literate ..funny.. musical ..scientific.. medical..I have often compared Israel to Scotland in 1800 when we were the best at everything that matters as well.

  9. HT Davy at 9:24

congrats on another “some of my best friends”

amazing how some people seem incapable of getting “it”

how about your very obnoxious and smelly and whatever neighbour getting you p…ssed off for being called anti-semitic because you defend his/her right to be as troublesome as anybody else.

  10. I have often compared Israel to Scotland in 1800 when we were the best at everything that matters as well.

In what were you the best Berchmans? Science? Literature? Art? Industry? Technology? Don’t be shy, tell me please!

  11. Peter

” Literature? Art? Industry? Technology? “!

    You are kidding arent you?

Scotland in 1800 had the greatest poet of all time , invented the historical novel ( Walter Scott) , produced the so called British Enlightenment ( which was actually the Scottish Enlightenment )..made astonishing scientific discoveries.. logs..the proper steam engine, the flush toilet, the bicycle, eventually leading to the telephone, the first television, penicillin..leaps in electromagnetics, radar, and insulin. By 1900 Scotland produced a fifth of all the world shipping.

You must have known this …even you cant be so dull.

  12. htd in his ignorance considers that Shakespeare lived in 19 century Scotland. We’ll let that pass

But what an impressive list of mechanical contrivances they concocted and even a few medical discoveries: I am so impressed.

  13. Gerald Kreeve

” Shakespeare lived in 19 century Scotland ”

Shakespeare was a giant who will be remembered as the greatest ever playwright of all time . But do us a favour..his comedies were rubbish and his poetry only just bearable.

    Is there for honest Poverty
    That hings his head, an’ a’ that;
The coward slave-we pass him by,
We dare be poor for a’ that!
For a’ that, an’ a’ that.
Our toils obscure an’ a’ that,
The rank is but the guinea’s stamp,
The Man’s the gowd for a’ that.

The expression …”exquisitely compassionate understanding of the human condition”….that sums Burns up …I borrowed it of course!

But what an impressive list of mechanical contrivances they concocted and even a few medical discoveries: I am so impressed.

  14. Gerald Kreeve

    “: I am so impressed.”

Sorry Gerald I accidentally included your sarcasm ..imagine that …me using sarcasm…I must be getting hungry .

  15. I just checked because I had a suspicion that there was a reason for Scotland’s waking up and I was right, IT happened in 1707 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Scotland#Union.2C_the_Hanoverians_and_the_Jacobites
and only AFTER that the Scots found a bit of their stride – as to greatest poet he is probably nominating this guy http://www.bbc.co.uk/robertburns/ – it just so happens that in 1800 he had already died.

Davy is what we call an Angeber the equivalent in English would probably be braggart. Those who parade knowledge of books they know nothing about – despicable blasphemers, dirtying the names of the immortals.

  16. Well htd. You have just disabused me of any notion that you understand poetry. You are a fervent patriot, no more.

  17. Gerald
as to Shakespeare you can’t expect poor bedazzled Davy to know that Shakespeare was a poet
    – or is there a BBC-series or whatever takes care of the education of the masses in your ares on Shakespeare the poet?

ooops I just saw my post took too long – he really meant Burns – Burns well why not Lokalpatriotismus is probably only a minor mental illness.

And one must forgive a people who had to suffer the indignity of 1707 – succumbing to … well I won’t drive in the knife any further

  18. Berchmans

Walter Scott? The first ever literate Scottish antisemite?

    …the bicycle,eventually leading to the telephone…

Bicyle leading to telephone…You must be seriously challenged tecnologically…
    Television??? In 1800??? WTF?
The mechanical panthelegraph – the prototype of today FAX was built in 1865 by Giovanni Caselli ( typical Scottish name).

Regarding Robert Burns, he was a great poet, but the greatest? Were you a bit above of the intellectual level of a teenager you would know that there is no such category as greatest writer, poet, musician, painter etc.
BTW Do you know anything about the German, Croatian, Hungarian, Romanian etc poets of the sme time period? Let’s agree without further discussion that you know nothing about them. So how would you know that Burns was the greatest of them? Did you learn this as part of your anti-discrimination studies?

As I said you are a lucky bastard due the fact that stupidity and ignorance don’t cause physical pain…

” Do you know anything about the German, Croatian, Hungarian, Romanian etc poets of the sme time period? ”

At New Year …you must get your German, Croatian, Hungarian, Romanian songs ready..or is it a Scottish song you will sing?

Like so many others, I won’t sing Scottish songs (and I bet peterthehungarian won’t), just as I’m not into cross-dressing 😉
Oh, and btw, I’m still waiting for the poem praising the IDF.
In (the very probable) case you forgot (or chose to ignore):

You have been sucker-punched by Peter the Hungarian. Prove this and I will write a poem praising the IDF.

In fact I ll start one

T’was in the middle of the night …on the deep High Sea

by your New Year Song Argument I wonder whether Jingle Bells isn’t the biggest poem of em all ever?

“Eine Blume macht noch keinen Sommer” (ohne flower doesn’t prove it’s summer)

  22. Brochman

Do me a favor, please explain to the surfers on this site how to decide who are the greatest poet, painter, writer, musician or even soccer player?
The same time you should publish a very short comparative study about the greatness of Burns versus the greatness of contemporary Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Persian, Italian, French, Polynesian and Hungarian poets.
What?! You know none of them!? Could it be that you are a brainwashed nationalist with a twelve years old’s intellect who thinks that his compatriots are the best without having the slightest idea about the others? (The right answer: YES)

    al-gharquad

Like so many others, I won’t sing Scottish songs (and I bet peterthehungarian won’t),…

You won. I won’t sing Scottish songs but I want to sing the ode to the IDF by Berchmans every morning, every evening not only at New Year’s Eve…

  23. Did you notice that over at the other thread as soon as real book lovers started talking shop Davy fell silent?

This is natural Silke. He must be using his books (except his copies of the Protocols, the Quran and Stalin’s Collected Works) to iron his pants in the night. It is cheaper than using some electricity.

  25. Berchmans:

    “I borrowed it of course!”

Of course ! Because you have never said anything original in all your comments.

  26. Wallowing in your collective glee – nice.

Although this wasn’t in such bad taste as the Disastrous ‘We Con the World’ song, it just wasn’t funny.

Not sure which is worse though.

  27. MindTheCrap

” Because you have never said anything original in all your comments.”

I know you dont believe this. I am maybe wrong …I am maybe wrong a lot…I am maybe biased …bigotted and ignorant. But I am unique. Who else has the bottle to take you lot on consistently?

You can be pretty horrible with your sneers.. your foul name calling and your sexual innuendoes…most sensible folk would pack it in.
