NiF’s Ben Murane (aka, Kung Fu Jew) compares Gilad Shalit to terrorists held in Israeli jails

H/T Noah Pollak

Ben Murane, head of New Generations for New Israel Fund, who is widely believed to comment, blog and Tweet using the moniker “Kung Fu Jew”, recently Tweeted the following:

So, those aren’t Palestinian terrorists being held in Israeli jails (as all of us unenlightened souls believe) but, rather, “political prisoners.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time Murane has made such indefensible moral comparisons.

Back in 2010, he wrote that Israel is “just at fault as Hamas” for the deaths of Gaza civilians used by terrorists as human shields. He also criticized those who use the term “global Jihad,” saying, “Spreading belief in a ‘global jihad’ is the same as spreading belief in the Elders of Zion.”

Remind me again.

Oh yeah, New Israel Fund and their supporters love Israel.”

Before one can comment on the idiocy of this comparison, it seems to me that you have a firm obligation to make a strong positive identification of Ben Murane as the twitter blogger using the name “kung fu jew 18.” Repeating what others may have written, that he “is widely believed to be” said blogger smacks of the kind of innuendo used on the Guardian. Even less justified is the attempt to link this to the the New Generations group, active in bringing young Jews to Israel to participate in social projects.

I don’t understand… Is he or is he not the head of New Generations?

    • There’s no question that this is Murane. Believe me this is more than innuendo…his twitter and blog identity is the worst kept secret in the world

      • So how about being less coy and stating so for a fact.

The comparison, as I wrote above, is idiotic and completely at odds with the facts. Just under 5400 Palestinians are held in gaol, the majority serving sentences for security offences ranging from major to minor. Some are indeed political prisoners, members of Hamas or other terrorist organizations, held even though they may have committed no actual crime. Most if not all these prisoners are in prisons run by the Israel Prison Service and are treated no differently from home-grown criminals. Gilad Schalit is a soldier who was captured on a cross border raid and has been held incommunicado ever since at an unknown place of detention.

        • Seriously, Abtalyon, do you not understand that most, if not all, democratic countries criminalize membership in designated terrorist movements? Of course you do. In the U.S., Americans involved in the Holy Land Foundatio were found guilty in a U.S. court, and imprisoned, for “merely” aiding and supporting a terrorist org – Hamas. Are you truly suggesting that Israel needs to wait until a Hamas members murder innocent Israelis before they can be arrested? Gilad Schalit, unlike Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, has been held incommunicado and denied even a visit by the Int’l Red Cross. Are you honestly making a moral comparison between Schalit and Palestinian members of Hamas?

            10-12-2008 Interview

“It has been almost 900 days since the Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit, was captured by Palestinian armed factions from Gaza. To date, the ICRC’s attempts to visit him and to establish contact between him and his family have been unsuccessful. Pierre Wettach, the ICRC’s head of delegation in Israel and the occupied territories, explains.”

Any chance that dubious will invoke International Law to press hamass or…

what does International Law have to say about

            – plane hijacking
            – flying passenger planes into buildings
            – using children as human shields
            – using civilians as human shields
            – using civilian neighborhoods to launch rockets and mortars
            – terrorists hiding amoungst civilians

            • The real crime in this situation is how wimpy the Israeli government’s response is to Mr. Shalit’s capture. The threat of force or use of force after negotiating would be much more appropriate.

          • “do you not understand that most, if not all, democratic countries criminalize membership in designated terrorist movements?”

Abtalyon’s post exemplifies perfectly how the left have adopted the culture of anti-Semitism almost lock, stock and barrel. For them, as for the traditional anti-Semite, it is one rule for the Jew and one rule for the rest of the world.

Adam Levick, is my position still not clear to you?

The IDF uses most opportunities to arrest Hamas supporters solely on the grounds of their membership of a proscribed organization. Technically, even the tealady could be picked up
            for aiding and abetting.
