The Tweets +972’s Joseph Dana didn’t want you to see

A pretty sure way of determining if you win a Twitter war is when one of the parties finds it necessary to delete a series of Tweets in the exchange.

The row began in reaction to a CW post on an anti-Zionist blogger named Joseph Dana, and his recent appearance at a SOAS event (“Palestine: Resistance and Occupation), as reported by Richard Millett, which we titled, +972’s Joseph Dana successfully freed himself from the “Zionist Indoctrination Program”.

No, the title wasn’t at all an exaggeration, as it represented Dana’s precise words at the conference, and seems to accurately reflect the activist’s understanding of Zionism – per professor Jacqueline Rose – as something approaching a mental disorder.

Though declining to directly respond, during the Q&A, to the pressing question posed by an audience member as to whether Zionism is, indeed, “the work of the devil”, Dana did clearly suggest, following a query from Millett, a moral equivalence between Hamas and Israel.

This was the basis of the Twitter conversation between Dana, CiF Watch, Richard Millett, and myself.

And:

Here, Dana’s referring to a passage from our post, in which we cited his comments regarding Hamas, which can be heard clearly in this audio, and this video, which Millett provided.

“Almost everything we can accuse Hamas of we can find the equal and sometimes worse situation inside of Israel.”

“The racism of Israel is on an equal platform [with Hamas]”

I then Tweeted the following:

Dana’s reply, while completely ignoring my challenge to his reference to the “Zionist Indoctrination Program”, which he claimed to have boldly broken free from, was as follows:

Actually, regarding the first Tweet above, Dana never used the word “absurd” in response to a questioner who seriously asked him if Zionism was the work of the devil.  Rather, Dana casually noted (again per this video provided by Millett), that Zionism should be relegated to the 20th century’s other failed ideologies, should be “left aside like an old coat”, but that he simply was “not going to comment on [that] terminology.”

He didn’t laugh at the absurdity of the question, nor express anything approaching anger or disdain for the explicit suggestion that Zionism represented some sort of supernatural evil, but simply refused to comment on the “terminology”.

We again challenged Dana to listen to the audio and video, at which he point, clearly frustrated, he descended into name calling.

But, clearly still perturbed, Dana added:

Then, finally:

Oh, that’s why he deleted his Tweets!

It couldn’t possibly have been because every claim we made regarding Dana’s comments on Israel, Zionism, and Hamas was substantiated by a video or audio clip, now could it?

Oh well, back to paid trolling.

  1. He thinks you’re paid to expose fascist lies?

If only! Sadly, the money is largely on the other side. Lots of it, too.

The stereotype of wealthy Jews, directing political campaigns with large chequebooks, in the shadows – it only works for those who believe in Jewish conspiracies in any case.

    How ironic.

  2. This gives me an indication of one attitude held in common by most if not all Jewish Israel detractors – that their parody of “the truth” is so self-evident that someone must be paying those who disagree with them. This smacks of paranoia and narcissisim in equal measure. Paranoia that “we” are out to get them and narcissism that what they have to say is so mind blowingly accurate that “we” would go to any lengths to undermine it and them. We don’t have to, do we (although it’s good to have our disagreement with them on permanent record), since they persistently fall into the elephant traps of their own making as has Joseph Dana.

So convinced are they of their own superiority and rectitude that they cannot possibly imagine that intelligent people of every political stripe are sickened by the rubbish, lies and libels they publish, and moreover are eminently capable of arguing with them from the basis of fact and with evidence rather than emoting, and most importantly of winning such arguments as in this case with Dana.

Dana is curious in one respect, however: he has a tiny glimmer of insight into how foolish he appears, which is why he deleted the tweets which condemn him as an attempt at damage control , but not enough to realise that most of what he talks and believes is utter rubbish.

Still, we can hope, can’t we?

  3. As a lamentably poor pseudo-psychologist Prof Jacqueline Rose may be a half-decent professor of English Literature.

  4. Dana has a devoted following of dupes who often retweet everything he writes. Notably this time nobody was defending or retweeting what he was saying which was indication enough that he was making such mistakes that even they noticed them.

I’d like to point out the ridiculous incongruity of the monicker he has chosen for himself. The original Ibn Ezra was a fine scholar and philosopher who lived in the eleventh century. Little Joseph Dana the pseudo-journalist looks even more insignificant in the shadow of such greatness.

  5. I see by the sparse droppings* that one of the Ibnezra loony lefties has been here. What a pity they didn’t stay for tea and a chat.

    Scared?

*awarding a single star to everyone. Typically mean and prejudiced.

  6. That Joey Dana can’t conceive that people would have the gumption to refute his and his puppet masters LIES, DISINFORMATION, for FREE on PRINCIPLE say more about him and his crowd of “progressive” RACISTS than anything else.

All the LIES about Israel and Jews tolerated and promoted by “the left”, by “progressive people” are a MIRROR IMAGE of reality.

    Which country/countries practice:
    – apartheid
    – designate roads and cities for one particular religious group
    – subjugate women
    – teach that members of other religions are subhuman (pigs/apes/dogs)
    – dip their hands in the blood of their victims
    – have religious leaders who dictate social policy
    – issue genocidal threats against other nations

Just look at the Arab press.

Just look at the anti-semitic placards tolerated at the “occupy wallstreet” encampments

Joey Dana, you are a FOOL – and a Fascist Socialist to boot.

  7. You write the folllowing:

“Almost everything we can accuse Hamas of we can find the equal and sometimes worse situation inside of Israel.”

BUT you left out this one, which is still in the last post:

“The racism of Israel is on an equal platform [with Hamas]“Hamas Islamist ideology is morally equivalent, or superior, to Jewish nationalism.

    Why did you do that?

    • Avi, please listen to the audio, from 1:20 to 3:07. Dana says precisely this. That Hamas racism is on an equal platform with Israeli racism, and further implies that Israeli racism is worse, because Israel is strong militarily and, presumably, therefore has the capacity to act on the racism.

  8. You write the folllowing:

This was exactly the point you did not justify with facts. Why did you do that?

  10. Adam, surely you are smart enough to understand what a big hole is left in your argument, right? Ehud, Yoav and Avi make a good point. I hope that you can response because this site is a real treasure of facts that combat bad people

    • It’s interesting, isn’t it that “Ehud” refers to himself in the third person? “ehud” didn’t write the post and someone else did, and the above posts from “avi” and “yoav” are written by the same person.

Transparently idiotic but to be expected and thank heavens for it.

Poor Dana. Can’t even summon up the support from real people!

    • That is what in the theatre is known as a chorus. It’s generally not used today because it is artificial and stagy which is what today’s theatre tries to avoid. You see how badly and falsely it rings above with the awkwardness of not ascribing the origin clearly to anyone and all talking through their noses at once, slightly out of sync while poor Ehud tries to control his stammer, Avi’s nose drips and he wipes it with his sleeve because he has no tissues.

      Quite the balagan.
