Did Guardian cave to pressure from Bahrain? Story critical of the regime removed from site

H/T Dave

Thanks to the internet, nothing really ever disappears.

As such, here’s a screen capture of a Guardian report on Jan. 30 titled “Bahrain has failed to adopt reform: So why is the Grand Prix going ahead?“, which is no longer on their site.

A rather important story for genuine human rights activists in the Arab world, don’t you think?  The arrest and torture of human rights activists and political dissidents: Apartheid practiced against an indigenous population; a complete lack of due process, and outrage by activists at the attempt to legitimize such a despotic regime by allowing them to host an internationally prestigious sporting event?

Such a story, which holds Arab rulers accountable for their continued violations of basic human rights, and make a mockery of the spirit of the much vaunted “Arab Spring”, is very much outside the box given the Guardian’s Judeocentric view of human rights abuses in the region.

However, when you go to the link now, this is what you find:

What happened? Well, per the report’s authors, Nabeel Rajab and John Lubbock, the Guardian is being threatened with legal action by Bahrain.

Here’s Lubbock’s Tweet:

Truly remarkable. An institution which prides itself on “speaking truth to power” caves to pressure from a Bahrain PR Firm (perhaps the PR firm responsible for promoting the Grand Prix event?), or the regime itself, and completely removes a piece critical of the country.

The hypocrisy is stunning.

While, based on Lubbock’s Tweets, it appears that the piece may be re-posted in some form, can anyone remember a similar case involving Israel, where the Guardian removed a defamatory piece about the Jewish state due to threats from the Israeli government, or even following substantial evidence of factual errors?

Yes, it’s a rhetorical question.

  1. The question is, how much money did Bahrain give the Guardian to stop this story?
Arun Kundnani, Thomas Friedman and the NY Times must investigate this? NOT!

  2. My reaction, as usual, is “incredible”

And then again – this is the Guardian we are considering.

    So – its not incredible.

And its about time Israel started following the lead Bahrain has given.

  3. Possibly the G. backtracked because these were not just general allegations about torture – they implicated one specific individual. That might – might – explain the legal action threat.

  4. How come Bahrain can sue and Israel can’t? For years we’ve been told that a country can’t go to law for defamation – hence the liars and fabricators have been getting away with it.

      • Who?
        Bernie E?
Events either happaned or didn’t happen.
If the G ran a report relying on their eye whitnesses without being certain of it they should lose all their credability just like France 2.

I certain they do not verify their stories so it’s not a surprise to me.

But people in the UK that hold the G in high standards should rethink whether or not to buy it again.

    • It’s all about money and who controls it…

The guardian obviosly has something to lose if it carried on.

There is nothing to lose by bashing Israel…

  5. It was co-authored by Nabeel Rajab an imfamous HR liar & that’s a documented fact. The author J Lubbock just happens to be the son of Eric Lubbock aka Lord Avesbury who is very close friends of Hassan Mushaima & other extremist anti gov types that promote armed conflict in Bahrain to achieve an Islamic Republic under Ayatollah Khamenis thumb.

  6. you people here should talk about how people getting killed here without the media care to say anything , why there is no news about the protesting ?.. why media talk about the other countries all the day but they don’t mention Bahrain , why ?.. are we animals ?. even animals have better media then us , it’s like if we are forgoten or noone know about what’s happening to us , what’s happening to us just like felesten , it’s like if we are not the owners of our land , we are animals , it’s ok if we got killed but it’s not ok for others , it’s ok to beat /rape / humiliate/kill our womens but it’s not ok to happen to you womens ! it’s like saying to us forget the past , let’s say we forgoted the past , what about now ?.. we are still getting killed , we will never forget , we will judge everyone who did something bad to us , it’s our right to live , it’s our right to protest , it’s our right to controle the country because the people rule not killers , right now the protecter is the kiler and the one who steal his own people , they want us to be silence but they say they don’t accept the poor and no democracy , that’s a stupid mind they have so the fool and slave that agree with them , what a shame that people like them accept what’s happening to us and remove the truth , you love the king it’s ok but don’t denie that he’s controling everything and know what’s happening to us but he’s silince , that means he’s part of this , even basyony said that befor but right now he don’t apply what he say , it means that he’s just like the rulers , they just talk talk talk but in reailty it’s The opposite , i just wanr you people to know that GOD will judge everyone in the end , if you know what’s happening to us and approve it then i hope GOD do justice to you and through you in hell , if you don’t know and not sure then search for the truth , look at both sides and judge , you have a mind , it’s not hard to know who’s bad and who’s not if you want to know …

    • …what’s happening to us just like felesten , it’s like if we are not the owners of our land

If you come here lying you won’t find much sympathy.

You are referring to the “Palestinians” who are a fake “people” invented by terrorists in the 1960s, They owned nothing but they are claiming Israel’s land. What do you think that Israel should do about that?

      • Palestinians lived there for thousands of years , how the hell did it became the opposite O.o , the mosques prove it

        • “Palestinians” didn´t exist until around 1967. You are yet another islamic liar. Go pray to your pedophiliac-murderer-schizophrenic pseudo-prophet (lots of piss be upon him).

          • Oh lookie, it’s the arse they call smurfjew come to remind us what a twat he is, just like his other nommes de plume, Snigger/Thank G-d I’m an Infidel/Anthony Posner et al

          • ““Palestinians” didn´t exist until around 1967.”

“They owned nothing but they are claiming Israel’s land.”

You guys are so unbelievably cute. If Palestinians did not live in green line Israel as Bahrani claims, why did Arthur Ruppin, founder of the Kibbutz movement, feel the need to write this?

““Land is the essential condition for putting down economic roots in Palestine […] wherever we purchase land and settle people on it – its current workers [the Arabs] must of necessity be removed, whether they be owners or tenants […] in future it will be much harder to purchase land, because sparsely settled land is no longer available – what is left is land settled with considerable density” (letter to Hans Kohn, 30 May 1928, quot’d in Etan Bloom’s thesis on Ruppin p. 379)

Ha ha, Ruppin admits there were Arabs in Palestine who owned land. And that the land unoccupied by Zionists is settled with considerable density. This is what makes pro-Zionist claims so untenable – They can be debunked in the primary documents left by the movement’s leading figures. You don’t have to take any Arab’s word for it.

Leaders like Ruppin didn’t have the luxury of swaggering like the amen corner today. They had to acknowledge that Palestine was densely settled with a long-established population because it was a real problem they faced, as they wanted to rob these people of their land. When you look at their private correspondences, you find stuff like the above. What you won’t find: “oh, they don’t exist, they don’t own anything, etc.”

They only wished the Palestinians didn’t exist.

            • You are quite funny too. If palestinians existed before 1967, why they never complained about the Egypt occupation of Gaza? Or the Jordanian occupation of the Judea & Samaria? Of course there were Arabs AND Jews living in the land but no “palestinians”.

Talk about “debunking”. You debunked yourself.

              • “If palestinians existed before 1967, why they never complained about the Egypt occupation of Gaza?”

I’ve wondered for years what is even the point of bringing this up, and it seems the question is designed to make it more acceptable to occupy Palestine and expel its inhabitants. After all, they didn’t protest when their land was occupied by another third party, so they must not have any real connection to it and of course they only protest Israel because of inborn Islamic anti-semitism.

Even if this were true, it’s still a distraction. The Zionists who occupied Palestine along with the British in 1917 (Yes, that’s when the Zionist occupation really began, not 1948 or 67) had no moral right to their agenda and those who had to get out of the way so Palestine could become a Jewish state had the unconditional right to fight back.

So let’s bring the caricature to its logical conclusion: Yes, the Palestinians could have been expelled at gunpoint by the Egyptians and they would’ve loved every second of it. If the Zionists had been other Arabs instead of Jews, the peasants from al-Fula would have enjoyed losing their farms. They hated being dispossessed only because they were dispossessed by Jews. Fine. Whatever.

It still doesn’t mean anyone with a modicum of decency should support Zionism. Zionism was always going to be a crime no matter who the victims were.

                • “It still doesn’t mean anyone with a modicum of decency should support Zionism. Zionism was always going to be a crime no matter who the victims were.” Mr. Decency

Yeah, right. Maybe you should complain to Otoman Turks that sided with the Germans and lost. Tough shit, isn´t it.

In fact, your ideology is the denial of Jewish self-determination. This is your obsession and pre-determined position. All your bullshit about palestinians and “decency” is just a ridiculous smokescreen. You don´t give a damn about them or anyone else, but just use them to mask your Judeophobia as “anti-Zionism”.

Even Streicher, the nazi-baldie, was more honest that you and your ilk.
They stated their hatred clearly. But you are too spineless even for

                  • When the British reached Jerusalem, a certain Hajj Amin al-Husseini “helped to enlist two thousand or more volunteers into their service” (One Palestine Complete 103). Does he receive any credit for siding with the British? As for the rest of that, get a new song.

                    • Here´s your heroe, islamo-fascist nazi-criminal fugitive, the Great Muffin of Jerusalem, inspecting his SS bosnian division. No wonder you are proud of him, mr. “decency”.

In sum, your beloved “palestinians” are arab nazis and their professional victimizing bullcrap is just a ruse for haters such as yourself.

  7. I am a Bahraini citizin and believe that Nabeel Rajab is a big lier and that he hase no cridibility. Just look at what his followers are doing in my country these days. Using Molotov bombs to burn police officers and other people and mr Nabeel think that this is a peaceful act. Do you like thugs to burn a british police officer? what was the reaction of UK goverment when rioters took London streets?
I am living the hill situation in Bahrain created by thugs of alwefaq and nabeel rajab and I want free countries of the word to stop these terrorists who are pro Iran.

    • you are a slave , basyony report that the king choose him said iran don’t have any relation ro the protesters and the protesters most of the time were peacefull , after 6 months of killing/torture/hunger/destroying mosques anf burning quran / don’t let injuries go to hospitals….etc you didn’t say anything but when people started to defend them selfs you don’t like it ?. that’s only a slave says that ! talk with reason , you denie what nabeel rajab says but you don’t have any evidence that what he says is not true , nabeel rajab never said to the protesters to use molotophs , he even told them to not use them …

i have the right to defend my self if there is no one protecting me , i have the right to protest peaceful , if they attacked me i have the right to defend my self , don’t tell me not to block street , tell the police to stop run over us then tell us to stop blocking the street , don’t tell me not to through molotoph if the police beated our womes and killed us , don’t tell me i don’t have the right to protest because of not having premition , i have the right to protest peacefully an time i want , i don’t need primition because it’s my country , im not living in a Foreign country to take a primition , tell all of these thhings to egypt/yemen/tonis/felesten , if they stop using these ways we will stop , if we are not peacefull then they are not peacefull too , what if the police came to your house without any reason only because you are a sunni or shia and killed your brother or a women , or took them to prison without primition and torture them , what is your reaction ?.. you will say it’s there jop ?.. let’s say they were protestering , is that a reason for kiling them ?. torture them ?. hunger them ?.

    • Don’t bother with SmurfJew/ThankGodI’manInfidel, they are one and the same person, Anthony Posner, who lionises the European far right and is a white supremacist just like the Nazi in the clip he posted

      • You seem to be the bothered one around. I guess you´ve got a little carried away with that clip, with the nostalgia you feel for the good ´ol days.

And beware, maybe you and Julius Streicher might be the one and the same person: that same monomaniacal hatred, pornographic obsession, etc.

        • No, smurfJew/Thank God I’m an Infidel, it’s you who must be enjoying the clip. All those ideas of racial superiority must have got your juices going. Goose-stepping around your dark, lonely bedsit, now are you?

          • Man, are you still here? I thought you despised this blog and all. But I understand: you´re still in love with Anthony. Maybe you could ask for a free psychoanalytic autopsy from der Guardian doctors. You deserve it.

  8. The “Crushing” Truth of Ayatollah Isa Qassim
In the coming days Bahrain will witness the first anniversary of the failed coup of February 14th Fake Revolution on the 10th anniversary of the 98.4% vote on the National Charter Act.

Al Wefaq which is the main opposition in terms of violence in Bahrain are preparing themselves and their followers to return back to the shameful once referred to as “LULU” roundabout, now Al-Farooq junction by escalating the interior situation instead of accepting many attempts by the government and calls from King Hamad to heal Bahrain via dialogue and protect it from civil sectarian war. Al Wefaq with its many “entities” are even killing themselves to achieve it!

The escalation for February started about three weeks ago when militias in Bahrain (Alwefaq) performed hezbollah military marches in different Shiite areas in Bahrain under the name of “Sacred Defense”!

They would like the world to refer to this a “pro-democracy”…

The “Sacred Defense” is actually a scaring attack or initiative and it’s a Psychological warfare to enter fear in the rest of Bahrain’s society which consists of Bahraini Sunnis, Christians, Jews etc as well as expatriate residents and visitors.

    BICI report:

“According to the 2010 census, the total number of persons residing in Bahrain is 1,234,571. Of these, 568,399 are Bahraini citizens (46%) and 666,172 are EXPATRIATES (54%). Of the total population of Bahrain, 70% are Muslim, while the remaining 30% are Christian, Hindu, Sikh, Jewish or followers of other faiths”

It is a threat in case they continue their rejection of the sectarian, racist, fake movement by Al Wefaq’s Hezbollah style Feb14 youth movement.

The escalation started by the Bahraini Gangster (BG) Nabeel Rajab (NR) who went to the fields to support and encourage his gang under the vice of “human rights” to incite the teenagers to clash with security forces daily by breaking the law.

Following NR, Ali Salman and Khalil Al Marzooq the two of the leaders of the Hezbollah trained and styled Al Wefaq encouraged them more as they participated and announced illegal gatherings.

The Shiite opposition used its last card to escalate the situation more by its Supreme Leader or Al-Waly Al-Faqih in Bahrain Isa Qassim who’s recent speech went as follows:

“And here is some of the abuse overwhelming the dignity of our free ladies and against Human decency, assaulting the individuals’ freedom, Overriding what Allah has forbidden , underestimating the honour of our ladies , this abuse is done by the imported mercenaries riot forces that roams the streets in our villages and towns at night and day and they say foul , dirty and silly words to the chaste women and innocent girls “.

Yes, they confront the 9 and 10 years girls and the ladies who are 20 and 25 years old with the most venomous

    words and the ugliest expressions…

Shouting: it’s impossible to humiliate us …let’s die for our ladies !!

We will not kneel except before God!

Whoever you find assaulting a believer lady “CRUSH HIM!! “

Shouting : it’s impossible to humiliate us

Shouting : At your disposal ya Hussain

Whoever you find assaulting a believer lady “CRUSH HIM “

Isa Qassim is the supreme leader of the Twelvers Shiites in Bahrain or actually the JUDAS of Bahrain! Why? Because he is willing to sell the whole of Bahrain for his own selfish gain. Judas according to the New Testament in the Bible is one of the Twelve! Apostles of Jesus. He is best known for his betrayal of Jesus to the hands of the chief priests for 30 pieces of silver. He was the first of the apostles to die.

Twelvers (Shiites) are the followers of the 12 imams and they are considered to be the only rightful successors of the Prophet Muhammad, beginning with Ali ibn Ali Talib, Muhammad’s cousin and son-in-law.

    BICI report:

“Most Shia in Bahrain belong to the Ithna-Ashriya or ―Twelver‖ sect ofShia Islam and follow the Ja‘afari School of jurisprudence, they adhere to the teachings of a broad range of religious guides or Marja‘ al-taqlid, who areeminent Shia scholars who provide guidance and leadership to the community on theological matters. Many follow the guidance of Iran‘s Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei of the Qum School. Politically, the Grand Ayatollah espouses the doctrine of Wilayat al-Faqih, which grants the religious establishment supreme authority over matters of both faith and state”

So, the Judas Isa Qassim wanted to give a reason, which is a “FATWA” for his militias to kill Bahrain riot police without mercy when they attack innocent ladies! Is the Judas Isa Qassim really sad about Shiites woman who been mistreated by riots police as he think and want his followers to believe?!

The fact is Twelvers Shiites woman are mistreated by Isa Qassim and his Imam Khomeini who made woman available for their pleasure known in Shiites religion as “Mutaa”!

The books of Hadith and Fiqh written by Shiites scholars define mut’ah as “a temporary marriage contracted for a fixed period in return for a compensation.” The belief in the sanctity and virtues of mutaa is an integral part of the Shiites faith. In contrast, the rest of the Muslim Ummah (Sunnis) considers mutaa as prostitution.

Imam Rohullah Khomeini wrote in his book “Tahrir Alwaseela” about temporary marriage “Mutaa”: “A man can have sexual pleasure from a child as young as a baby. Any father marrying his daughter so young will have a permanent place in heaven. [“Tahrir Alwaseela”, fourth edition, Qom, Iran, 1990]”

From Devils Deception of Shiism written on, In Iran from the shiites shrines of 8th Imam (Imam Reza) a picture of paper recruiting girls for mutaa!

In order to elevate the spiritual atmosphere, create proper psychological conditions and tranquility of mind, the Province of the Quds’eh-Razavi of Khorassan has created centers for temporary marriage (just next door to the shrine) for those brothers who are on pilgrimage to the shrine of our eighth Imam – Imam Reza and who are far away from their spouses.
To that end, we call on all our sisters who are virgins, who are between the ages of 12 and 35 to cooperate with us. Each of our sisters who signs up will be bound by a two year contract with the province of the Quds’eh-Razavi of Khorassan and will be required to spend at least 25 days of each month temporarily married to those brothers who are on pilgrimage. The period of the contract will be considered as a part of the employment experience of the applicant. The period of each temporary marriage can be anywhere between 5 hours to 10 days.

    The prices are as follows:
    * 5 hour temporary marriage – 50,000 Tomans ($50 US)
    * One day temporary marriage – 75,000 Tomans ($75 US)
    * Two day temporary marriage – 100,000 Tomans ($100 US)
    * Three day temporary marriage – 150,000 Tomans ($150 US)
    * Between 4 and 10 day temporary marriage – 300,000 Tomans ($300 US)
Our sisters who are virgins will receive a bonus of 100,000 Tomans ($100 US) for the removal of their hymen.

After the expiration of the two year contract, should our sisters still be under 35 years of age and should they be so inclined, they can be added to the waiting list of those who are seeking long-term temporary marriage. The employed sisters are obligated to donate 5% of their earnings to the Shrine of Imam Reza.
We ask that all the sisters who are interested in applying, to furnish two full-length photographs (fully hijabed and properly veiled), their academic diplomas, proof of their virginity and a certificate of good physical and psychological health which they can obtain through the health and human services of the township of their residence.
Please forward all compiled material and send to the below address by the 31st of the month of Ordibehesht, 1389 (May 21st, 2010).
Attention: For sisters who are below 14 years of age a written consent from their fathers or male guardian is required.
Address: Mash’had, Shrine of Imam Reza, Shaheed Navab-Safavi, Kossar passage, Bureau of Temporary Marriages!

new fatwa by shia imam shia girls can do mutah with the cook

    The Scandal of Mutaa

After the above how can Isa Qasim speak about women being insulted or mistreated when he himself via his faith condones this?

And then if he cared so much about women, the 2002 constitution stated equality of men and women, whereas the previous constitution in 1973 forbid women from obtaining high rolling parts in the government and restricted them from voting.

“HH Princess Sabeeka, the King’s wife formed the High Women’s Council, which dramatically shifted the woman’s role in Bahrain from darkness to daylight. In Bahrain now if a woman gives birth she gets 60 days paid maternity leave in the public sector, and 45 days paid maternity leave in private sectors. Salary scales have been adjusted and women no longer get paid less than men but are provided equality and opportunity.

Women in Bahrain became Ministers and in private sectors became CEO’s, Executive Managers, and many formed a successful Business. They became an important part of the community and economy as a whole. It was concluded when the High Women’s Council worked side by side with the government to issue the family law, which protects women and children from domestic violence, and insures equality in the community.”

The moment this law was announced the Head of the Welayat Al-Faqih Shia cleric Judas Isa Qassim and the illegal High Shia council in Bahrain announced an order to storm the streets with protests against this law. They started chanting the fall of 2002 constitution and the return of 1973 constitution. They mixed all cases and causes together to bring down the 2002 constitution.

Until today the family law in Bahrain is only implemented on Sunna and everyone else except Shia. In July 2011 Bahrain entered the National consensus dialogue as a consequence to solve the Bahrain fake 14th Feb revolution demands.

Al Wefaq the leader of the revolution made a statement that they will not participate in any session except the political ones, and refused to implement the family law on Shia under the argument of the privacy of their sect.

Without a law to protect Shia women and children, they are still exposed to different kinds of unacceptable and unethical behaviors.

Therefore Judas Isa Qassim’s stance would have made more sense to implement the family law if he cared about women being harmed…

Shiite women in Bahrain are used by the Bahraini Gangster Nabeel Rajab, the Judas Isa Qassim and Hezbollah in Bahrain (Alwefaq) miserably in breaking the law and illegal marches for media propaganda. As all over the world women are equal in front of the law and men and woman are eligible to be detained and accountable.
