News of an antisemitic attack in Germany is buried by the Guardian

In early June we posted about kippah wearing Jewish teens in France who were brutally assaulted by a mob of Arab youths.  We noted that one of the young Jewish men suffered an open wound on his skull and one girl sustained a neck injury.

Not only did the French Interior Ministry confirm that the assault was motivated by antisemitism, but as Times of Israel reported, such racist attacks against Jews are increasing in the country.

Joël Mergui, president of the Central Consistory – an umbrella organization working to coordinate local Jewish communities – said the country’s Jews were under constant attack and the chief rabbi of the Grand Synagogue in Lyon, Richard Wertenschlag, called the atmosphere for Jews “unbearable.”

Yet the Guardian; a crusading liberal broadsheet which fancies itself a fierce advocate on behalf of all victims of racism, did not report on the vicious attack.

Just last week it was widely reported that there was an antisemitic assault in Berlin against Rabbi Daniel Alter, who was punched several times in the face by four young Arabs whilst in the company of his young daughter.

Again, the Guardian’s Germany page does not, to date, include even a brief mention of the brutal attack – the disturbing details of which were revealed in an interview with Alter:

“The 53-year-old rabbi said one of the four Arab-looking youths who attacked him [breaking his cheekbone] first asked him, “Hey, are you a Jew?” Alter said the youths threatened him and his daughter with such statements as, “I’ll f*** your daughter… your wife and I’ll f***… your God.” “

Alter’s wife and his two daughters were being treated by a child psychologist due to the trauma of the attack.

While Jewish leaders in Germany have been critical of the country’s failure to honestly confront the “Islamic-animated anti-Semitism among segments of the country’s more than four million Muslims”, there was a hopeful sign to come out of Berlin.

Ynet reported that citizens in the German capital are “reacting to last week’s attack on a rabbi with a show of solidarity with the local Jewish community.”

“Under the headline ‘Berlin is wearing a kippah’ the Berliner Zeitung, one of the capital’s most popular newspapers published a front page story featuring some of Berlin’s most prominent residents wearing yarmulkes on their heads.

Politicians, artists and businessmen had their pictures taken with skullcaps on their heads, explaining that through the act of wearing a kippah they were expressing their opposition to anti-Semitism.”

While I do not expect the staff of the Guardian to engage in such a dramatic display of support for Europe’s tiny Jewish community, they could at least show that their professed anti-racist politics includes solidarity with every minority target, even when the broader story contradicts the rigid script of their far-left narrative.

  1. Reblogged this on The Body Of Truth and commented:
Reblogged from CIF Watch, The most anti-Semitic, Liberal, Leftist and Appeasing newspaper in Britain buries the news of an Anti-Semitic attack by Arab Youths in Germany, God forbid they let the public know we have a Muslim problem…

    • France’s Jewish community is the biggest one in Europe, and guess what? The numbers of French Jews making Aliyah are not only derisory, but some of the few French Jews who migrated to Israel move back home to France a few years later.

I guess that French Jews, despite some antisemitic incidents over the past years, still feel safe and happy in France, their mother country.

The irony is that many French Jews I know tell that I must be crazy to live in Israel, because they think it’s incredibly dangerous…

      • French Aaliyah has been massive and permanent. Some olim will move back, that is normal. French ole have changed Israel for the better, especially in the culinary department. The French are also largely responsible for the impressive real estate boom in Israel.

    • News of settler attack in the West Bank is buried by CIF Watch.

Surprisingly, Levick does not seem to have written a word about the settlers who threw a Molotov cocktail at a Palestinian family, whose members were gravely injured, to the point that the father was in a coma and his five-year old CHILD and his wife had to have skin grafts.

  2. What a strange inversion of history we have reached when German politicians, who learned what hatred of Jews can bring, wear kippot on their heads in solidarity with Jews, as some in the Nazi era wore yellow stars, while in Britain the trend seems to be going the other way.

  3. So, they haven’t mentioned it. They should, no doubt. So where’s the evidence that they’ve buried it? You sure as hell haven’t given any.

Too little coverage, and it’s double standards; too much for your liking, and it’s an obsession. Heads I win, tails you lose.

    • You willfully misrepresent (ie lie) about CIF’s position: the point is the Guardian does not mention this story because it goes against their narrative (ie propaganda line) of Jews/Israelis as perpetrators and Arabs as victims.

  4. Hmmm… they asked, “Are you a Jew?” They didn’t ask him if he was an Israeli or a Zionist by any chance, did they?

And, if I’m not being indelicate, the rabbi’s six year old daughter was with him when they beat her father in front of her and threatened her with rape.

  5. Anti-Semitism is codified within Islam. The founder of Islam directed his followers to kill Jews. Guardian supports Islam and Arabism. Guardian is Anti-Semitic. If Hitler was alive today and his only agenda was to gas Jews, Guardian would support him.

  6. Of course the Guardian wouldn’t report these attacks. They were carried out by Muslims, who the Guardian has many times decreed can do no wrong. Any suggestion that a Muslim has ever lifted a finger against a Jew must be stifled at all costs.

After all, start reporting about Islamic anti-semitism in Europe, and what would happen to the narrative of the Muslim as the sole and eternal victim? People might start to explore Islamic anti-semitism and racism in the Middle East. And then Palestinian anti-semitism might be exposed, and that would never do. Best shove the whole thing under the carpet eh?

  7. This has indeed been a huge issue in the German media – and that alone makes it an important European news story.

Has it been covered at all in the US/European mainstream media?

    • It would be nice to have a response in words to my question at the end, there.

p.s. Days before the attack on the rabbbi, a Turkish family in Germany was attacked by neo-Nazis.

Let’s not forget this kind of crime either.

        • Jewish school girls threatend in Berlin a few days ago, a teacher saved them from more trouble. Some years ago a Kurdish woman was shot in the head and killed in broad day light in Berlin by her brother because she was in a relationship with a German. In the past decade dozens of Turkish women have been murdered because they brought ‘shame’ on their families.

          • Can you or anybody else explain which part of my perfectly innocent post from September 3, 2012 at 6:18 am caused some people to vote it down?

            Just curious.

  8. Germany’s muslim sub proletariat is legendary. When they are not shooting their sisters in the head in public for sleeping with kufah’s , or beating up homosexuals, much to the disappointment of the Green’s, they are now behaving like The SA and send German born rabbis to hospital for being Jewish.

    This is
    a) a baseless slur
    b) hate speech.

Shame on the usual ignorant idiots who recommended it.

And no surprise to see it posted by the serial anti-Muslim poster Daniel – who has absolutely no idea about the situation in Germany.

On the upside these Arabs love being in Germany because they know about the gas chambers and freewheel of the welfare state.

Shame again on the idiots who recommended the comment.
Why isn’t anybody here challenging this bigotry?
Isn’t it time this bigot was removed from CiFW?
