Did CiF Watch “browbeat” Guardian cartoonist Martin Rowson into submission?

Two days ago, I discovered that CiF Watch, a Jewish supremacist site interested solely in cleansing British press of any criticism of Israel and Jewish power, was boasting that the Guardian surrendered to their pressure – Gilad Atzmon (Jan. 25, 2012)

You can’t win – [antisemitism is] the ultimate trump card. No matter how many innocent people the Israeli state kills, any criticism is automatically proof of anti-semitism. No wonder idiots like Ahmadinejad want to deny the holocaust. They are jealous. They’d love to silence their critics like that. – Martin Rowson (Dec. 2011)

Though Guardian cartoonist Martin Rowson is obviously in no way comparable to extremist Gilad Atzmon, we were reminded of both our battle with Atzmon last year and our periodic critiques of Rowson’s depictions of Israeli villainy following a brief Twitter conversation this morning with the ‘visual artist’.

This social media tête-à-tête with Rowson reminded us that we were remiss in failing to note a pithy exchange with him a few months ago which would no doubt inspire ‘fear and trembling’ in those, such as Atzmon, who routinely do battle with the cabal of hegemonic, perfidious Jews and their philo-semitic friends.

So, per Rowson’s sage advice, we shall now endeavor to “big ourselves up” with the satisfaction of knowing that our “campaign” to stifle the Guardian’s anti-Israel creativity “has worked”, and contemplate the possibility that the global Zionist ‘conspiracy’ to “cleans the British press of any criticism of Israel and Jewish power” may indeed be as far reaching as our enemies claim.

  1. So Syria, Lebanon, China (Tibet), Northern Cyprus, Turkey (on both counts), Egypt, Cuba, Sudan, Russia, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan all provide treasure troves of subject matter for even third-rate cartoonists and Rowson can’t think of anyone to criticize?

    It shows two things.

    1. He’s a fourth-rate cartoonist at best
    2. What sites like CiFWatch, BBCWatch, the Algemeiner, et al say is absolutely and undeniably true: that “journalists” like Rowson have an Israel bias and obsession.

Or just behaving like any pompous English liberal prick worth their salt as a vanguard of Guardian middle class morality, and having a crack at the yids.

  3. Rowson’s claim that he’s been ‘browbeaten’ by Cifwatch will probably inspire even more anti-Israel/anti-Jewish comments, cartoons and posts in the Guardian and elsewhere by hacks and cartoonists claiming ‘they won’t gag me’.
Any such reaction, should it occur, would be done safe in the knowledge that Jews are not going to go on murderous rampages, attack the Guardian’s offices or issue death sentence ‘fatwas’.

Just like any other anti-Semitic asshole – you think its your entitlement to disempower Jews and define what they are merely by the virtue of your arrogant and bigoted sense of moral superiority. You think because you define yourself as not being far right then those who disagree with you must be. You know nothing. You are an ignorant, self-absorbed snob.

    • Who’s disempowering Jews? Zionism (Jewish “nationalism”) always was a minority sport among us. It has even less traction now among communitities world wide who are waking up to the racist antics of the Israeli state and who are getting pretty wary of things that are being done in their name.
You want antisemitism? Israel is the embodiment of antisemitism according to the EUMC working definition of antisemitism in that it conflates Jews with Israel.

      • Well, a typical Antisemite who claims that Antisemitism is the Jews`own fault. Don´t kick him in the ass, you would damage his brain.

        • Are you thick, Fritz? Who’s blaming Jews for antisemitism? What this site has been doing is conflating Jews with Israel, which according to the EUMC Working Definition is antisemitism. It’s this site that is antisemitic.

          • Logic is not one of your strongpoints is it ‘Chimp’?

Do you understand the meaning of the word ‘conflate’?
Where EXACTLY does it say in the EUMC Working Definition what you claim?

Before you ask I have just re-read them. Which draws me to the conclusion that either you have not read them or, more probably, you do not understand them.

          • Look who’s calling whom thick. http://www.european-forum-on-antisemitism.org/working-definition-of-antisemitism/english/

Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.”

Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.
Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation.
Using the symbols and images associated with classic antisemitism (e.g., claims of Jews killing Jesus or blood libel) to characterize Israel or Israelis.
Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.
Holding Jews collectively responsible for actions of the state of Israel.

Now, where on this site, other than your’s and other like minded posts, does any of that occur?

Or maybe you post comments that violate that definition with the express purpose of attributing those comments to the site.

            Run along now, little doggie.

  5. Only now do I wonder about the timing of this article, given that the twitter chat took place back in August.

Was it prompted by this cartoon from Sunday?

If that’s supposed to be Netenyahu looking glum in the shadows, I see no resemblance.
At the same time: the depiction of Hague looks like one of the aliens in Mars Attacks!

    • A very strange cartoon. Rowson seems to be implying, however, that the deal is a bad one for world security, which I think most of us on this site would agree with. The sinister, shady Bibi in the background is odd, however. I really can’t work out what he’s doing there. Is Rowson saying that he was behind the US in this all the way – the real power behind the throne? It’s puzzling.

  6. For intellectually challenged, it isn`t an old 18th century cartoon, it is an early 19th century cartoon.
