Imagine: A Guardian letter by ‘liberal’ Palestinians condemning Hamas calls for genocide

No, Palestinians did NOT have a letter published at the Guardian condemning Hamas for its antisemitic, progenocide ideology.

However, the Guardian, in an especially egregious abuse of Holocaust memory, did publish a letter (originally posted by the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network titled ‘Over 300 Survivors and Descendants of Survivors of Victims of the Nazi Genocide Condemn Israel’s Assault on Gazacondemning alleged Israeli pro-genocidal policies.

We’re not sure which is more unlikely: that ‘liberal’ Palestinians would ever conceive of writing a similarly self-critical letter, or that the Guardian would ever publish it. But, here’s what such a letter – let’s say written by Palestinian Nakba survivors – condemning Hamas’s real plan of genocide against the Jews would possibly look like:

As Palestinian survivors and descendants of survivors of the Nakba, we unequivocally condemn Hamas’s genocidal ideology and statements by their top political and religious leaders attesting to their ongoing plan to exterminate the Jews.

We further condemn Western states more generally for failing to use their diplomatic muscle and moral authority to forcefully denounce this extreme form of anti-Jewish racism at every opportunity.

Genocide begins with the silence of the world.

We are similarly alarmed by the extreme, racist dehumanization of Jews within Palestinian society, which has reached fever-pitch.

We are saddened by polls indicating that 93% of Palestinians hold antisemitic views, that Politicians and pundits in the state-controlled Palestinian media (in Gaza and the West Bank) have openly called for genocide, and that innocent Palestinian children are indoctrinated on the necessity of murdering Jews.

Furthermore, we are outraged by the media’s failure to adequately inform readers, in the ubiquitous articles and commentaries published about the current war, that Hamas has no discernible political objectives, save of course the extermination of Jews from the Middle East.

Though we continue to mourn the loss of our homes at the hands of Israeli forces in the war of 1948, and hope for a just solution to the refugee problem, nothing can justify firing rockets at Israeli civilian communities, targeting Jewish children in mass terror attacks and nurturing Palestinian men, women and children on the virtues of Jihad.

We must raise our collective voices and use our collective power to condemn the scourge of Palestinian antisemitism and say ‘Not in our name’!

Hamas does not speak for us and does not represent our values.

“Never again” must mean “Never again”.

  1. Don’t get distracted, this is all smoke and mirrors.

The issue is one of international law: israel’s illegal occupation and illegal colonial settlements.

Just stop. simple. We don’t need nazis is the 21st century thank you very much.

  2. Looking at the list of the signatories:
    – Most of them (not everyone of them) are not survivors of the Holocaust at all, they never were deported, arrested by the Nazis or were in any danger. They may be called escapees and not survivors.
    – these persons are excellent volunteer kapo material
    – apart from two persons (both dual citizens!) none of them are living in Israel, but in different western democracies, Their disgusting/vomit inducing political gesturing shows their utter disinterest in the fate of the remaining real survivors and their descendants who are living under the Iron Dome. (Regarding the two Israelis I hope they are enough principled to refuse the financial and other privileges supplied by the Israeli taxpayer for survivors and their descendants)
    – while I don’t have the time to and motivation to search for their personal history, some of them are well known professional political and/or anti-Israeli activists like Hayim Bresheeth, Hajo Meyer and Hedy Epstein (arrested two days ago in Ferguson MO!!), or the Langners who were members of the now defunct Israeli Communist Party and were known supporters of Arab terror. Being dual citizens, they left Israel long ago and returned to Germany

  3. Don’t you love it when some people use their supposed moral authority to make hysterical claims?
Apparently, their condemnation of “all forms of racism” doesn’t extend to Hamas’ hatred of their relatives within the Green Line.

  4. It’s a logical fallacy to think that people who have suffered in the Holocaust, with all due respect, are experts on the Israeli-Palestianian conflict. It’s just another of the many misuses of the holocaust for various interests. (To be honest Israel if often guilty of that too.)

  5. The Guardian did at least also publish this too (not that I’m sticking up for the Guardian or the Lib Dems – it’s just nice to see some liberal voices in Britain’s leading liberal paper with actual liberal opinions!):

As Liberal Democrats, we are totally committed to the state of Israel being able to live within secure borders, and wish to see the removal of the existential threat to Israel’s security by an internationally recognised terrorist group, and the creation of a viable Palestinian state.

As recorded by the UN and captured by various international media sources, Hamas’s policy of using human shields to protect its arms caches in hospitals, schools and densely populated neighbourhoods must be understood as the principal factor behind the number of Gazan civilian deaths, and condemned as such.

Hamas’s commitment to the destruction of Israel and its refusal to recognise Israel’s right to exist is a huge obstacle to peace.

We hereby ask that the UK government and the international community call on Hamas to maintain the cessation of rocket fire beyond this current ceasefire. Israel has shown it is committed to a ceasefire subject to an end to the rocket fire; it is now incumbent on Hamas to do the same. This will allow the international community, led by Egypt, to broker an end to hostilities, involving the demilitarisation of Gaza plus recognition and adherence to the Quartet principles, which in turn will lead to the eventual opening of borders and a more enduring peace.

  7. Ivan, there is a primary historical fact, that must be established now. There has never been, I repeat NEVER been, a civilization, Entity, or a nation referred to as “Palestine” There was never a Palestinian tribe, and there was never a Palestinian country in the Land of Israel to begin with! Israel is not for sale. It is not a pie to be sliced up and served to a clan of killers and their supporters.

Israel existed 1500 years before Mohammad was born

There was never in history any state called Palestine governed by Palestinians.
Tell us when did it ever belong to Palestinians? Answer Never. It was never a Pal land to begin with, so your question is invalid.
The Palestinians never governed or controlled any land before 1993.
To make it simple, please tell me one Palestinian President before 1993?
    Keep thinking Ivan

The Palestinians want a capitol, which they never had, in a country that never existed.

But there was a PA-sponsored soccer tournament in Tulkarem named after the suicide bomber.

Hamas celebrates 11th anniversary of Rishon LeZion terror attack
    May 7, 2013

Hamas might be telling Western media that it never targets civilians, but in Arabic it celebrates the deaths of innocents it killed every day.

The latest on the Al Qassam website (only the Arabic version, naturally) celebrates the 11th anniversary of the Rishon LeZion terror attack. Wikipedia describes the attack:

On Tuesday, 7 May 2002 at 11:03 pm, a Palestinian suicide bomber detonated a hidden explosive device within a crowded game club full of people located in the new industrial area of Rishon Lezion, only 10 km south of Tel Aviv, killing 16 innocent civilians and injuring 55 people, 10 of them in critical condition.

After the attack the Israeli police stated that the suicide bomber was carrying a briefcase full of explosives and in addition was also wearing an explosive belt. The police estimated that the total weight of explosives were between 7 to 8 kilograms, and stated that the briefcase contained also metal fragments and bolts in order to maximize the number of casualties in the attack.
Ten of the fatalities were over 50 years old.

Hamas calls it a “heroic” operation, saying that over 20 “Zionists” were killed and over 60 injured, “most of them in critical condition.”

Hamas didn’t take credit for the attack until six years later, when it held a “wedding feast” for the bomber and his fictional virgins in paradise. His daughter is quoted as being proud of her terrorist father.

The woman who drive the bomber to the attack was caught and sentenced to 20 years – but was released in the Gilad Shalit swap.

Hamas brags about eleven years of terrorism
The Palestine Times website published an article today listing Hamas’ terrorist accomplishments since the beginning of the terror war that began in September 2000.

They brag about three specific acts of terror:

The massacre at the Mercaz Harav yeshiva killing 8 students
The attack by a laser-guided anti-tank missile against a schoolbus, killing a child (that they claim was a “soldier”)

The Park Hotel Passover massacre killing 30, mostly elderly, Jews. (Hamas inflates the number of victims to 36.)

The article says that in the past eleven years Hamas has committed:

    4303 terror attacks
    61 suicide attacks
    24 attempts to capture Israelis
    423 bombings
    90 sniper attacks
    146 ambushes

In addition, they claim 8085 projectiles fired from Gaza, of which 2627 were Qassam rockets and 303 were Grad rockets.

They claim to have killed 910 “Zionists” in that time period, while losing 1697 of their members. Not civilians – 1697 dead Hamas terrorists. This doesn’t include members of other terror groups like Fatah and Islamic Jihad.

It is clear from the article that Hamas considers the second intifada to still be going on.

    – “killed 11 Zionists” at Moment Café
    – “killed 15 Zionists” at Sheffield Night Club
    – “killed 9 Zionists” at Hebrew University
    – “killed 11 Zionists” at the Ben Yehuda pedestrian mall
Fatah continues to follow Palestinian Authority policy documented by Palestinian Media Watch of honoring terrorists, among them Abdallah Barghouti.

A picture glorifying 5 of the suicide bombings that Barghouti prepared explosives for and which killed 61 “Zionists” was posted by the administrator of the official Facebook page of the Mobilization and Organization Commission of Fatah. Terrorist Barghouti was honored as the “brave prisoner” and his attacks as “self-sacrificing activity” and “Martyrdom-seeking operations.” “Martyrdom-seeking operations” is the Palestinian euphemism for suicide bombings.

Barghouti is serving 67 life sentences for preparing explosives for terror attacks in which 67 people were murdered – Sbarro restaurant (15 killed, Aug. 9, 2001), Sheffield Club (15 killed, May 7, 2002), Moment Café (11 killed, March 9, 2002), triple attack at Ben Yehuda pedestrian mall (11 killed, Dec. 1, 2001), Hebrew University (9 killed, July 1, 2002), and Bus 4 in Tel Aviv (6 killed, Sept. 19, 2002).

Following PMW’s exposure of the visits this past May by PA TV to the homes of terrorist Barghouti and two other arch terrorists who between them are serving 166 life sentences, PA TV criticized PMW saying they are not terrorists but “heroes” and attacked PMW for calling them “terrorists”.
After the Tel Aviv massacre on January 12th 2003, where 2 Palestinian homicide bombers massacred 23 Israeli civilians. The PLO web site posted a statement — celebrating the attacks: “With faith in the calling of holy jihad,” it said, “two suicide attackers . . . succeeded this evening to infiltrate the Zionist roadblocks and to enter the heart of . . . Tel Aviv and carried out two consecutive suicide attacks… These suicide attacks caused a large number of fatalities and casualties in the center of the Zionist occupation of our land. We swear before our people that additional suicide operations will occur.” That is a view with which much of Arab opinion concurs., for ex ample, datelined its story on the Tel Aviv attack “Palestine-Israel,” and reported that the bombings had killed “23 Israeli settlers.”

The Palestinians heroes are Arab terrorists who sneak up in an Israeli’s home and slaughters an entire family like at Kibbutz Metzer.

It should be pointed out, the Jewish leaders on the left at Kibbutz Metzer in 2002 opposed Israel building a fence. The Jewish leaders at Kibbutz Metzer thought the Palestinians have humanity.
Unfortunately they found out the savages Fatah are.

To quote Caroline Glick from yesterday.
Our world: Pope Francis’s unfriendly visit

As the former Cardinal of Buenos Aires, Francis may have heard of the November 2002 massacre at Kibbutz Metzer. Metzer was founded by Argentine communists in the 1950s. Metzer is located 500 meters from the 1949 armistice lines which made it an obvious beneficiary of the security fence. But true to its radical roots, in 2002 members of the kibbutz waged a public campaign against the planned route of the security fence. They feared that it would, in the words of Metzer member Danny Dovrat, “ignite hostility and create problems” with the kibbutz’s Palestinian neighbors.

Thanks to that concern, on the night of November 10, 2002, a gunman from the “moderate” US- and EU-supported Fatah terror organization faced no physical obstacle when he entered the kibbutz. Once there he killed two people on the street and then entered the home of Revital Ohayon and executed Revital and her two sons, Matan, 5, and Noam, 4 years old.

Fatah praised the attack on its website and pledged to conduct more assaults on “Zionist colonizers,” and promised to continue “targeting their children as well.”

Had he actually cared about the cause of peace and non-violence he claims to champion, Francis might have averred from stopping at the barrier, recognizing that doing so would defile the memory of the Ohayons and of hundreds of other Israeli Jewish families who were destroyed by Palestinian bloodlust and anti-Semitic depravity.

Arnold Roth who lost his daughter in the Sbarros massacre couldn’t even find one Palestinian who could condemn Fatah and Hamas for celebrating the Homicide bomber for slaughtering 15 Israeli civilians including 7 children eating pizza.

Our post made the point that representatives of the major segments of Palestinian Arab society took part in last week’s funeral.

If you were looking for moderates – say, the so-called moderates of the Mahmoud Abbas regime – they were indeed there but they were not moderating anything. When it comes to murder and incitement to murder of Israelis and of Jews, they are not moderate; they are enthusiastic. In last Wednesday’s funeral procession in Tubas, they participated, heart and soul, to ensure the strongest possible message of support, encouragement, adulation for acts of calculated murder like the one in which the dead human bomb had engaged, and that stole the life of our 15 year old daughter Malki. They amplified this message of hatred and jihad via the official Palestinian Arab state media, as did the Hamas regime in Gaza. They wanted everyone to know – at least, everyone who speaks Arabic.

As for publishing the same news in other languages, they were much less interested. Try (just as one random example) finding any mention on the English-language, Bethlehem-based, high profile European-funded Maan News Agency website. But Maan’s Arabic side [here] has all the death-cult worship an Arabic reader with an interest in such things could want. Interesting, no?

We received some feedback that suggested this characterization was unfair. They said there are voices in the Palestinian Arab world that are as sickened as people like us are by the unconcealed blood-lust of Hamas, of Islamic Jihad, of Fatah, of the Palestinian Authority and of Mahmoud Abbas.

So here’s an invitation for anyone who has such evidence to send us public, published statements in the Arabic language, in which Palestinian Arab voices condemn what sickens the rest of the world: the process of turning psychopaths like the human bomb who murdered our daughter Malki into martyrs, heroes, figures to be emulated.

    Over to you.
