Economic BDS Fails

With its research and development office in central Tel Aviv, Silicon Valley-based ForeScout has become a world leader in network access control, preventing devices from computers to phones to anything else with an Internet connection from joining a network unless it has the right credentials.

HeartWare International Inc. (NASDAQ: HTWR) announced [on September 2nd] that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Israeli Valtech Cardio Inc. in a share and milestone payments deal that could reach $860 million. Valtech is a privately held company that specializes in the development of innovative, non-invasive surgical and transcatheter valve repair and replacement devices for the treatment of the most prevalent heart valve diseases mitral valve regurgitation (MR) and tricuspid valve regurgitation (TR).

“It was clear from the poll that there’s been a distinct setback in the level of support for and practice of boycott campaigns of Israeli products in general. The percentage of those who support the boycott of all Israeli projects dropped from 59.2% last March to 49.1% this August. Moreover, the percentage of those who support the boycott of Israeli settlement products only rose from 7.6% last March to 9.4% this August.

In response to a question about their direct practice of boycotting, the percentage of respondents who said they boycott all Israeli products dropped from 48.8% last March to 34.1% this August.”

To identify solutions to the drought-related water crisis, the LA County Board of Supervisors approved a motion by Mayor Michael D. Antonovich and Supervisor Sheila Kuehl establishing a formal relationship with the State of Israel to exchange research and information on water conservation, reclamation and management.

Cultural and Scientific BDS Fails

Israel’s Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art (in Ramat Gan) has been ranked as the fifth-most “influential” design school in the world and the 11th-best school of its kind overall, according to rankings compiled by the Business of Fashion (BoF) publication.

On Tuesday, the company announced its most advanced processor ever, with Intel benchmarking its new Skylake processors at more than double the performance, triple the battery life, and with graphics that are thirty times better than the most popular computers in use today – the five-year-old PCs and laptops that sport a previous generation of Intel processors.

    One has to hope that when a BDSer is presented with the option of a non-invasive procedure and open heart surgery to solve his dysfunctional heart, the open heart surgery will be chosen as the preferred ‘solution’ to remain ‘pure’.
