Top 5 Guardian anti-Israel smears, distortions and lies in 2018

Narrowing down an entire year of Guardian anti-Israel reporting to the five most egregious examples is not an easy task, but, as a public service to our loyal readers, here are a few smears and errors by their contributors in 2018 that especially stood out:

1. A Guardian contributor literally suggested that those who would defend the IDF’s actions on the Gaza border are morally sub-human (See post here)

2. Guardian cartoonist Steve Bell ties Zionism to apartheid and white supremacy (See our post for context)

3. Guardian cartoon by ‘First Dog on the Moon’ smears Australian Jews who support Israel as “apartheid enthusiasts” (See our post for context)

4. The Guardian refused to correct an op-ed by Labour Party official Jon Lansman that included a smear (debunked five years ago) that Ethiopian Israelis were – for racist reasons – given contraception against their will. (See our post for context)

5. Guardian editorial rejects full IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism out of fear that it would “stifle the Palestinian narrative of dispossession and expulsion”. (See our post for context)

  1. Yet another putrid lie by the Guardian (and the left generally): “ethnic minorities within Israel have been treated appallingly, such as Sudanese and Eritrean refugees who have been detained and deported”

    1. Native/citizen minorities and illegal immigrants are two different groups. Israel treats its minorities (Arab, Druze, Bedouin, Circassian, etc) quite well.

    2. The Guardian has no right to tell sovereign countries (such as the USA and Israel) how to handle potentially massive inflows of illegal immigrants.

    3. Israeli treatment of illegal immigrants has not been particularly different from other developed countries; all are caught between humanitarian impulse and the risk of being overwhelmed (as have been even much larger countries than Israel).

    4. Nevertheless, the Guardian and the left insist the USA and Israel must open their borders. One suspects this a conscious strategy to destroy the USA and Israel. And why does the left insist the USA open itself to Latino immigrants, and Israel open itself to African Muslim immigrants, but 19th-, 20th- and 21st-century Palestine not open itself to Jewish immigrants? (Answer: hypocrisy and anti-Semitism)

  2. Oh Mike Farmer without that US$3.5 billion there would thousands of unemployed in the US as it all has to be spent there – idiot!
