The McGreal Wordle

I thought I would see what kind of wordle (word cloud) would be created based on the contents of the Guardian articles dealing with the subject matter of McGreal’s “revelations” that Israel offered nuclear weapons to South Africa. Check this out:



And to give you a sense of the extent of obsession of the Guardian in painting Israel in the worst possible light, below is a screenshot of no less than 11 articles and editorials in a space of just three days on the subject of Israel, nuclear weapons and apartheid-era South Africa.




Notice also how in the spirit of the Guardian’s own version of “fair and balanced” there is no countervailing viewpoint presented other than a belated publication of Shimon Peres’s denial.
Seems to me that this would make a nice case study for students of journalism in the methods of distortion and manipulation in the mass media.
