The Company They Keep …..

Jonathan Freedland had an article on CIF on Tuesday about Obama’s peacemaking.

We loved Freedland’s book ‘Jacob’s Gift’.  We hated his cheerleading for Ken Livingstone during the London Mayoral election campaign last year.

Livingstone is on record as saying that Israel should not have been created.  That’s antisemitic.  We’re surprised that Freedland seemed able to turn a blind eye to this.

As a senior Guardian journalist of long standing, we would also be interested to hear what Freedland has done about the Judaeocentricism of CIF.

Or maybe things would be even worse without him there?

  1. “…Livingstone is on record as saying that Israel should not have been created. That’s antisemitic. We’re surprised that Freedland seemed able to turn a blind eye to this.

“As a senior Guardian journalist of long standing, we would also be interested to hear what Freedland has done about the Judaeocentricism of CIF…”

I think that your second paragraph above would offer the reason for Freedland’s wilful blindness – he works the the Guardian, doesn’t he?

  2. Astroturfing Israel is what they do on CiF 24/7. Nearly all pieces on the Arab-Israeli conflict is an opportunity for third world fascists and Jew-haters to spit out venom.

Really newsworthy articles , like recent clashes in Gaza between hamas and home grown al qaeda fighters don’t t see the light of day; only trivial matters putting Israel in a bad light always see the front page.

When you voice your concern over overt antisemitism, they delete your comments.

  4. Hang on, just how is Teacup and exiledlondonor either purveyers of antisemitic content even in someone’s wildest dreams ? (I haven’t got a clue who most of the others are )
If you were putting together a list of “known Twats,” then yes, exiled, IN MY OPINION should be top of the frickin’ list BUT how in holy-moly is he an antisemite or ever been responsible for posting anti-semitic posts or anything that could facilitate antisemitic discourse ??
And Teacup ?! oh for crying out loud.

Look, IMO, you’ve got a case here – I remember when truly awful material used to stay up days (IMO, there is still malicious material which stays up but I’m refering to the “kill all Jews” which I never thought I would see on a forum related to a mainstream British paper) and cif’s excuse was it didn’t have resources to properly moderate the threads. It was only because Jewish and other decent posters insisted they better find those resources if they were going to attract, unwittingly or other wise, posters like MSheepDip et al, that something finally moved on that score. But the eumc definition isn’t workable – it’s too open to interpretation which means in effect, it’s a catch all thus, it will catch non. Do you see ? It’s self defeating.
No, I don’t have a better working definition but as we have grade A academics coming out of our collective ears, I’m sure someone somewhere can come up with something better.

In the meantime, in accordance with my working definition of “what constitutes a Twat” exiledlondoner is a twat IN MY OPINION but to the best of my knowledge there isn’t a shred of evidence that he contributes or that he encourages others to contribute antisemitic discourse.

  5. Mita, regarding LeonWells and CIF’s banning of him, it might be worth your while to take a look at posts by BTSelemPaul. I am not persuaded that CIF has been all that serious about banning people like “Dotty,” but believe they should be. So far as I’m aware, the Jewish poster identified on CIF by Dotty, was not on so called social networking sites nor did he post himself allover the net there for it must have taken some considerable time to google the moniker used by the Jewish poster in question. Dotty then come up with a several years old letter that the Jewish poster once wrote and had published in The Guardian. Either Dotty is an obsessive or he has inroads to information from other sources. It seems to me, any person involved in what is, to all intent and purposes, cyber-stalking, should have sounded alarm bells.
Perhaps all the many issues growing numbers of CIF users have faced despite which, they have received no support from CIF create sites like this one. Where is CIF’s responsibility ?

I understand why you’re doing this, CifWatch. Hold CIF to account.

  6. ExiledLondoner is less strident in his comments and he isn’t a social antisemite in my opinion. Teacup is too obvious . BTW, 9 in 10 on my list are third world fascists. False-flagging is rampant on CiF.

  7. You know that I don’t think the stompernet guys really give a lot of good info on seo, I’ve bough some of their products and I was really disapointed. What do you think about it, is it just me that think they suck?
