Qalandiya “Martyrdom”: Harriet Sherwood Tweets from the Palestinian street

Several Palestinian rioters were reportedly killed this morning after Israeli border police were ambushed while attempting to arrest a terror suspect in Qalandiya, north of Jerusalem. A Border Police spokesperson reported that during the anti-terror operation over “1,500 Palestinians poured into the streets and attacked the officers with firebombs and rocks.”

The IDF said soldiers rushed to the scene after the Border Police officers came under attack, and that soldiers opened fire after they felt their lives were in “imminent danger.”

A video uploaded onto YouTube today appeared to show Palestinians on rooftops in Qalandiya raining down rocks and other objects on Border Police vehicles during the incident.

Whilst we of course await Harriet Sherwood’s report on the incident, which the Guardian has thus far only covered via AP, here are her Tweets evidently live from the scene:

At 1:44 PM, ‘martyrdom’ had been officially confirmed.

    • My thought as well.

Interesting – given the Guardianistas’ belief that it is the rebels in Syria using gas on their own people to stir up the West, would they believe that these were killed by fellow residents to make a point against Israel?

How did Sherwood get there so quickly? Was she tipped off by a riot organizer?

  1. She is really completely identified with the Palestinian narratives. There is no attempt at all to provide any information about what preceded the shootings.

” “1,500 Palestinians poured into the streets and attacked the officers with firebombs and rocks.” ?? Doesn’t sound spontaneous to me.

    • “1,500 Palestinians poured into the streets?? Doesn’t sound spontaneous to me.”

Yes I believe they need to be told to be angry living in rubble and sewage.

      • Second intifada was a planned attack. Or do you think that a Jewish man walking around the holiest site in Judaism, during the holiest week in Judaism, for security purposes, was reason enough to blow up a pizza joint, a disco, and a Seder?

Silly me…. Of COURSE Jassper does! After all, Israel = White People Practicing Apartheid….. DUH

That being said, it’s hard not to be happy for Jassper who finally has something new to harp on regarding the Middle East situation!

        • 1,500 hundred “Palestinians” demonstrate the fruits of incessant racist hate indoctrination. “jasper” makes excuses.

  2. “Several Palestinian rioters were reportedly killed this morning ”

    This is a great shame.

I disagree with the tone of the article and wonder if news in the area is a little slow , always a good sign . However I have to acknowledge that this is a balanced piece of work.

  3. Some Hasbara on what was the Israeli Police doing in the West Bank? Another Hasbara on three Palestinians dead and no casualty on the Israeli side when over 1500 Palestinians allegedly armed with bombs and rockets attacked Israeli Border Police. Mind you there is no hasbara just lies – anyway let us have it for a laugh

      • “tohse Joos”

It is a shame that CIFWatch has these American -style attempts to attribute anti Semitism in a discussion about Israel , meaningless as they are in a site trying to monitor a British newspaper. This is simply not a Brit expression.

As you know the Guardian is really popular now with threads of many thousands and Glenn Greenwald ,the bête himself, even more world famous because of the recent detention of his partner.

Adam needs help if he is to criticise a smug Guardian which basically applauds British aggression but slams Israel..he doesn’t need silly sneers. However your language contained no direct sexual references so I guess we should be grateful for small mercies.

        • “It is a shame that CIFWatch has these American -style attempts to attribute anti Semitism in a discussion about Israel , meaningless as they are in a site trying to monitor a British newspaper. This is simply not a Brit expression.”

Here’s another one: Go shove it !

          • ” Go shove it ”

The Guardian at this moment is almost uncatchable. The Last Greenwald article had was it 5000 comments ??as he streaks away to become the most famous journalist on the planet.

You have a chance to knock the smug gits off their perch before they zoom off into outer space . They support Brit violence but hate Israel. CIFWatch is the leading site to tackle it. “Go shove it” is not really going to petrify them and maybe you should try shouting at the TV before you post..gets rid of a lot of angst believe me.

              • “…he streaks away to become the most famous journalist on the planet.”

The trouble with that is he’s not a journalist.

“Go shove it” was directed at you.

            • ” he streaks away to become the most famous journalist on the plane”

The higher he flies the harder he’ll fall. Hubris and journalistic ethics do not coexist comfortably. We’ll wait and see at what point he will steps over the furthest line.

            • jasper, your hyperbole knows no bounds. It is true that, on the day of the detention itself, much sympathy was pouring out on social media for the poor, defenceless Mr Miranda.

Since then, of course, that sympathy has beeen draining away as the true events have filtered through. The Guardian LIED when they said he was denied access to a solicitor. It has since become clear that the shameless Glenny was simply using Miranda to smuggle highly sensitive, stolen state secrets across international borders in order to furhter his own political agenda, and has been hiding behind his credentials as a “journalist” to avoid allegations of espionage and treason.

Most people have had their eyes opened by this incident – except those who choose to keep their eyes firmly closed to any evvidence that their hero Glenny could possibly be at all in the wrong, like you jasper.

        • You mean it’s a shame that there are American Jews living in Israel.

I think that’s what you really mean, Jassper. I mean, you said it, so you must mean it. Of course, you contradict yourself, so maybe you only sort of mean it.

Ahh…. Who am I kidding!?! Of course Jassper kind of sort of means it. He’s not the one at fault for constantly berating Zionists while on this board. He’s the one defending himself and the lies that trip his storylines up. It’s just so unfair, Jassper, that mean, American, Congress-controlling AIPAC supporting Jews like me take our Americanization of the Middle East debate and shove it in your miserable face.

I think I’m going to watch A Fish Called Wanda tonight.

Thanks, Jassie-Jass. (That’s my American nickname for you. It’s great because I mention Ass twice. Good stuff, no?)

        • And, Jassie-Jass, the Tohse Joos comment… that’s not really the Americanization of the Middle East debate as it may be the Americanization of your perplexed state of stupidity. Tohse Joos is plural of Teh Joos which is universal for Blaming Israel. Organ theft, Mossad sharks and vultures, AIPAC controlling the world…. My way is just kind of concise but I can paint that picture.

Jassis-Jass… If you guys were as creative as us guys, I just might tell ya. But ya ain’t because, dawg, you’re too freaking stupid. Or as you might know it, Stoopid.

          Stay fresh, Yo.

          • “Teh Joos which is universal for Blaming Israel. Organ theft, ”

Yes there has indeed been the theft of an organ but I think the crime was committed against you rather than by you…or as Woody Allen said …”My brain??..its my second favourite organ!”

            • I’m going to let you in on a secret… I know I’m American, and I know I’m Jewish, and I know Woody Allen is American, and I know Woody Allen is Jewish. It doesn’t mean I find him funny.

For simple minds come simple explanations. You are miles away from my line of thinking, which is great since you want to live in a world of easy definitions and mindless stereotypes.

              • ” I’m going to let you in on a secret… I know I’m American, ”

This is a wonderful first step. Admitting the problem is being half way to self actualisation. I’m going to let you in on a secret… I knew you were an American the second I saw one of your posts ..the spelling, the howlingly comical view of the world.

” You are miles away from my line of thinking,”

The Atlantic ..choppy, cold, stormy and occasionally deadly but it has one real advantage.

                • Erm, jasper. Isn’t this just a teensy weensy bit racist? Assuming that a person can’t spell, and has a comical view of the world simply because of his nationality?

Is your “liberal” “humanist” crown slipping a little?

                • “I knew you were an American the second I saw one of your posts ..the spelling, the howlingly comical view of the world.”

jasper before you pick up anyone on their spelling you should make sure you check then double check your own first.
Now I’m going to let you in on a secret, the second I saw your posts with the comical spelling, the lack of adherence to the rules of grammar, the ridiculous view of the World particularly the Middle East.
I knew that you are an Arsehole!

                • Gerald

” I knew that you are an Arsehole ”

This type of verbiage is guaranteed to have Guardian editors wondering why CIF keeps getting mentioned as a serious counter to CIFs anti Israeli stance.

” But aren’t they a bunch of folk who call each other rude names ? they will ask.

                • “This type of verbiage is guaranteed to have Guardian editors..”

                  jasper I amend my remark.
Not only are you an Arsehole but a stupid one as well!

You constantly let your mask slip with the simplest of errors.
For example incorrect use of the word ‘verbiage’. I do hope you are wearing a flashing bow tie and big red nose when you type your posts. You might as well look like a clown as well as write like one.

                • ” I knew that you are an Arsehole ”
To paraphrase what Jack Nicholson said to Diane Keaton: “Arseholes are human, too”

Not that I suggest any remotely occurring overlap between the Jasper and Nicholson.

                • Jassie-Jass…. You care about spelling but you don’t care about history. That’s what makes you so cute and cuddly like a Klansman in the shitstained sheet… Hey, I’ve used that wonderful line on you before… Ergo, it must be true.

BTW: What are the mis-spellings? TWAT… that’s spelled correctly. MORON… that looks right. DIPSHIT…. those I’s aren’t dotted, I guess.

You are a genius. American Jews love Woody Allen! And if it wasn’t for American Jews living in Israel, the world just might be a better place!!

                  Yeah… So sane…

        • Was it you, jasper, who was fretting about the use of neologisms in another thread? It seems to me you should perhaps divert your trolling to a blog that welcomes discussion of linguistics, rather than one where the primary concern is the use of language by a major publication to subvert the truth, advance a radical agenda and directly and indirectly support the physical and intellectual attack on one country and one people – Israel and “those Joos”.

          • “a blog that welcomes discussion of linguistics, rather than one where the primary concern is the use of language ”

No linguistics is the study of how language is acquired , to attack the guardian you have got to get the grammar perfect. Otherwise you look clumsy. It s the only thing I was good at at college before my life was ruined by life!

  4. Rather than employing Sherwood as a “journalist,” the Guardian could save money by just taking a Palestinian propaganda source, using Google to translate it from the Arabic and tweaking it a bit to turn it into proper English.

The result would be indistinguishable from the biased rubbish Sherwood churns out.

    • “The result would be indistinguishable from the biased rubbish Sherwood churns out.”
Ah, but pretenses must be kept up…for now.

      • True. When the Guardian has submitted 100% to radical Islam there will no longer be a need to pretend.

  5. Butterfly floats over our heads amid gunfire.

That’s the spirit, Harriet. Keep it up with that groundbreaking journalism.

  6. The polite term for Ms Sherwood’s drivel is “Embedded journalism”.

I can think of others but I am far too polite and diplomatic to use them.

  7. Not nice –
1,500 people throwing rocks and firebombs is though?
She really is as moronic as she looks.
